End the Retaliation Against Imprisoned CIA Torture Whistleblower John Kiriakou

The following is excerpted from Firedog Lake:

CIA torture whistleblower John Kiriakou recently resumed speaking with the press and writing his ‘Letters from Loretto’ after the Bureau of Prisons reneged on their deal to give him 9 months in a halfway house. Unfortunately, prison officials have chosen to respond with brute force: conducting surprise searches of his cell, attempting to remove his writing desk and threatening him with ‘diesel therapy.’

As he explains in his latest letter, “Diesel therapy is when a prisoner is transferred from one prison to another all across the country via prison van, bus or “conair” plane, never staying in any one prison long enough to receive telephone, email, mailing or visitation privileges.”

This vindictive behavior is not only wrong, but has been ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court.

Please join us in contacting the Bureau of Prisons Director Charles Samuels and demand an end to the illegal retaliation against John Kiriakou.

TAKE ACTION

Federal Bureau of Prisons, 320 First St. NW, Washington, DC 20534

Sample phone call script:

Hello, my name is __{name}__ and I’m calling today to demand the Bureau of Prisons end its illegal retaliation against imprisoned CIA torture whistleblower John Kiriakou.

John has been a model prisoner during his time in FCI Loretto. He even stopped his letter writing – which is his First Amendment right – at the prison’s request. But after the Bureau of Prisons went back on a deal for John to spend nine months in a halfway house, he spoke up, and the Bureau’s response has been wholly unacceptable.

John has been subject to surprise searches. Prison officials told him they’d break his desk off the cell wall. He has even been threatened with so-called Diesel Therapy. I’m calling to demand the Bureau of Prisons immediately stop this illegal retaliation.
